Animal Experiments / Systemic Physiology - Short Profile

Experimental models (selection):

Rat: physiological, pharmacological, behavioral, endocrine analytical, neuroanatomical, neurochemical and neurogenetic studies throughout ontogeny transition, i.e. in neonatal, infantile, juvenile and / or adult age

Maternal gestational diabetes, maternal diet-induced obesity in graviditate and during lactation, maternal protein malnutrition, maternal stress, maternal semistarvation, neonatal deprivation, small / large nest (neonatal Over/Underfeeding), islet cell transplantation, uterine artery ligation in graviditate, peripheral (sc, ip, iv) and central nervous system drug application (icv implantation) to maternal and / or newborn, embryo transfer in a rat model 


Functional and behavioral studies:

Glucose and insulin tolerance test, islet cell stimulation in vitro, euglycemic / hyper-insulinämische clamp, various substrate measurements, non-invasive blood pressure measurement, feeding-behavior (including preference test), mobility and stress test (open-field), sexual behavior, learning behavior (water-maze , Skinner), stress response (hypokinesia, novel-environment) in the rat model.

Experimental model:
Sheep (Ovis aries) in cooperation projects, especially protein and hormone-analytical and molecular genetic studies pre-and perinatal period, including placenta

Glucocorticoidmodell (IUGR, stress, placentome development)

Methods: Prenatal ultrasound examinations, intrauterine catheter implantation in vivo stress tests, cesarean hysterectomy in a sheep model (in collaboration)
